| 28 oz can | Crushed tomatoes |
| 6 oz can | Tomato paste |
| 4 cloves | Minced garlic |
| 1 tsp | Dried basil |
| 1 1/2 Tbsp | Sugar |
| 2 Tbsp | Diced onion |
| 1 1/2 Tbsp | Olive oil |
| 1 Tbsp | Dried oregano |
| 1/4 tsp | Crushed red pepper flakes |
| to taste | Salt |
| to taste | Pepper |
| 1. Sauté the diced onion (2 Tbsp) in the olive oil (1 1/2 Tbsp) for 2 minutes. |
| 2. Add minced garlic (4 cloves) and sauté for another minute. |
| 3. Add basil (1 tsp), sugar (1 1/2 Tbsp), oregano (1 Tbsp), red pepper flakes (1/4 tsp), salt (to taste), and pepper (to taste). |
| 4. Simmer the pizza sauce for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. |
| 5. If during the simmering, the sauce becomes too thick, add some water. |
| 6. Let the sauce cool down a little bit before using. |
